TVPaint 3.59 Download Readme - Sub-720K Archive Files copyright 1999, NewTek, Inc., // by C. Baker. The Files: The TVPaint software is provided for download as five archive files (four .lha and one .sfx). For the "LHA" files, the user should have the Amiga version of LHA, and we have linked one on the TVPaint download page. The SFX file is self-extracting under the Amiga OS. The documentation is provided as two Acrobat (.pdf) files. What you need: For the software files: The user will need three DSDD floppy diskettes (880K capacity) to create the install set. For the documentation files: PC or Mac user can download a free Acrobat reader from Adobe's web page, and use it to read or to print the files. How to Extract the Software Files and Build the Install Set: 1. Download the files and transfer them to your Amiga, including the LHA executable file, if you do not already have LHA. 2. Place LHA in your C: directory. 3. Format an 880K diskette. Name it "TVPaint#1". 4. Place the file tvpd1.lha in your RAM: device. 5. Open the Shell. Type in "RAM:" and hit the return key. You should see the Shell prompt change to "RAM:". 6. Type in the command "lha x tvpd1.lha df0:" and hit the return key. The files and directories will be extracted and written to the floppy disk. 7. Once the extraction is complete, copy the file "cyber.lha" onto the floppy diskette. 8. Once the copy operation is complete, remove the diskette from the drive, set the write protect tab, and delete the file "tvpd1.lha" from RAM:. 9. Format a floppy diskette, and name it TVPaint#2". 10. Repeat the steps you took with file tvpd1.lha, but this time use the file tvpd2.lha. 11. Once the file tvpd2.lha is successfully extracted onto the floppy disk, copy the file ex.lha onto the diskette. 12. Once the copy operation is complete, remove the diskette from the drive, set the write protect tab, and delete the file "tvpd2.lha" from RAM:. 13. Place the file "tvpd3.sfx" in the RAM: device. 14. Open the RAM: device, and use the "Show/ All Files" option from your Workbench Windows menu to make the file visible. 15. Double-click on the file tvpd3.sfx. A command window will pop up on your screen. The name of the file will be displayed in the text gadget in the command window. 16. Hit return or click on the "OK" button. 17. The file will begin to self-extract, and will ask that you place an 880K diskette in the floppy drive. Do so, and continue to follow the instructions onscreen until the process is complete. This will create the first disk in the three-disk set. 18. Once the disk is done, remove the disk from the drive, carefully label the disk, set the write-protect tab, and set it aside. 19. Now that you have completed the set, refer to the "TVPStart.pdf" for instructions on how to install the software. Operational Note for Toaster/Flyer Users: Users can take images back and forth from TVPaint and ToasterPaint, because they share a common file format. The filetype is 24-bit IFF, which ToasterPaint refers to as "RGB", and TVPaint refers to as ILBM 24-bit. IMPORTANT: When you import a TVPaint image into Toasterpaint, you will see only the left half of the image as it loads. Once the image has completely loaded in, force a screen refresh by holding down the shift key and hitting the right-bracket key (shift <]>). This will make the complete image visible.
